Research Experience:
1989-1994: Study of marine microorganisms for their bioactivity. Involved in
investigating marine microorganisms for production of antibacterial compounds.
1. Primary screening of marine microorganisms for production of enzymes like B
lactamase, alkaline protease & Chitinase.
2. Involved in isolation of antibiotic producing marine actinomycete.
3. Standardization of fermentation parameters & isolation of antibiotic Principle from the
fermented broth.
4. Purification & characterization of antibiotic powder using NMR, IR, MS &
Microanalysis.
5. Toxicity testing using mice & found out LD 50 of the antibiotic.
6. Many multiresistant clinical and environmental isolates of Acinetobacter were tested
against this antibiotic.
7. Transformation experiments to confirm plasmid transfer and isolation of plasmid of
Acinetobacter.
1984-1986: M.Sc. by (Theory/papers) Dept. of Microbiology, University of Poona,
Pune. As a partial fulfillment of M.Sc. degree, performed, Study on preservation
of milk using H2O2 - Peroxidase system.
