Malnutrition is more common in India. One in every three malnourished children in the world lives in India. About 50 per cent of all childhood deaths are attributed to malnutrition. With the aim countering the problems in the vicinity of Ratnagiri ,Satara and Sindhudurg District, the trust started Malnutrition Project consisting of Community Health physician,pediatrician, Orthopedician, Physiotherapist and dietician and Specially trained nursing staff.
School children have tremendous latent potential as future human resource of the country. It is observed that oral hygiene of these children is very poor. In the view of above, B.K.L Walawalkar Hospital has launched a School Dental Check-up and Treatment Project- ‘PROJECT DENTAL CARIES ELIMINATION’ for underprivileged children of remote Konkan region of Western Maharashtra with special emphasis on oral health education.
For medical services to be offered to the people from the remote villages near Dervan, the hospital staff visits them with medical-team-on-wheels in a specially prepared vehicle.
Rural Empowerment and Community Health (REACH) is a program established by Shree Vithalrao Joshi Charities Trust with the main objective of bringing about a total socio-economic transformation by the people and for the people.
