Defense Institute of Advanced Technology is the premier Deemed University under the Department of Defense Research & Development, Ministry of Defense, Government of India. The University has well-equipped laboratories with latest equipments and simulation / analysis software. The M. Tech programmes are designed to include Course of Study, Seminars, Project /Thesis.

DIAT has MoUs with various Industries in India, Universities & Establishments across the world. The students have an opportunity to visit DRDO laboratories & get opportunity to listen and interact with scientists engaged in various disciplines carrying out state of art, Research & Development.

The institute has developed proof of concept with regard to ‘Nanomaterial based snake venom detection kit’ whereas institute has identified antvenom to carry part of its study that will involve providing necessary services required for the testing.

A multi-disciplinary biomedical engineering and technology incubation centre BETiC) in IIT Bombay facilitate rapid translation of innovative ideas from surgeons into high-quality low-cost medical devices suitable for the local population.

B.K.L. Walawalkar Hospital & Rural Medical College has tie up with BETiC for research and innovations. The scope and focus will be innovative devices that have a significant local requirement and for which the related R&D expertise is locally available.
