Free Dispensary

Illiteracy, misconceptions about modern treatments, and social aspects are some reasons that stop people in this region from taking treatment at the Hospital. Many times, the sheer intimidation of modern technology, huge buildings and wards, and even the procedures of registering the patients keep these rural residents, unaccustomed to the ‘urban’ atmosphere, away from the Hospital. A Free Dispensary was introduced by the hospital to remove these fears and to avoid people denying themselves medical treatment even when they are seriously ill.

The Hospital also went beyond free medicines and tried to introduce processes which are simple to the patients. The services of this free dispensary can be availed without a case-paper and payment for diagnosis or medicines. Tests such as X-rays, Sonography, and blood-test, etc. are carried out free of cost for needy patients. The waiting times are really short. If the test results recommend a surgery, it is carried out at very low charges. More than 500 camps were organized in remote villages of Guhagar, Sangmeshwar, Raigad, Poladpur, Rajapur, Dapoli, and Lanza and thousands of patients were benefited.

Seminar for village leaders & Anganwadi (pre-school) teachers

Villages have their unique personalities. An important link to the villages is the village leader. Any social activity requires interaction with these leaders or village representatives as well as the government officials. There are also other key personnel like the social-workers and pre-school (Anganwadi) teachers. The Hospital organizes separate seminars by specialised doctors for these representatives since it is important to engage and make them aware of the various Hospital programs. All the seminars, meetings, and get-togethers organised for achieving this aim involve the Ratnagiri District government officials, Collaborative Child Development Program Supervisors, and the Child Development Project Officials.
